You can temporarily store your files on the hard drive of the computer. The default file location for My Documents is the D:\ Drive. When the computer restarts all files saved to the D:\ will be wiped. To permanently save your work you should save to a USB Flash Drive or CD. Writing files to CD is explained in the saving files section of this FAQ You also can save files online for example if you have an email account you can attach and save to draft your document, or save it to a website like Google Docs.

YES but please note you are not able to run software or applications that are not already installed on the public computers. While you can download files including executables and installers you can't run them (but you can copy them to USB Flash drive or CD) Access to the internet is provided through our proxy server. The proxy is configured to block viruses and offensive content such as pornographic websites. There is a download and upload file size limit files over a certain size will be blocked
Maybe! The People's Network public pcs connect to the internet through a firewall. The firewall is configured to allow normal web browsing, however if your online games requires using a special / non-standard port then you will be unable to play that game. Eg www.runescape.com is not available on the People's Network public pcs.
YES but please restart the computer when you have finished using it to ensure your confidential information is wiped from the hard drive. To be extra safe you could chose to restart the computer BEFORE you log into the online banking site as well.
You can watch DVDs using VLC media player open My Computer, click on the Z:\drive and select File, Play with VLC media player. You can also write (or burn) files to DVD on the People's Network public computers.
If you have trouble reading the screen you can change the resolution by clicking on the graphic properties icon in the system tray, select Display Settings, then chose 1024 x 768 screen resolution to makes the icons and text on the screen BIGGER.
Yes you can use the memory card slots at the front of the computer to plug in, for example, the memory card from your phone, to upload photos to Bebo, etc.
Maybe you can use MP3 players that do not require additional software (drivers) to be installed. For example you should be able to plug in your iPod because iTunes is installed. Other devices probably won't work at this stage but we are working on this.
